Hit is a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers, dark mafia romance. It is
book one in the Mafia Born Duet.
That first scene reeled me in so much, and the descriptive writing was so well done that I could visualize this one just like a movie playing in my head.
At first I really felt sorry for Pina, with her being locked away her entire life. It seemed pretty archaic and I had a moment of "really? This much seclusion for a modern setting?" But it worked, once I get it a chance!
Darragh, while a hitman, is a likeable character and it really got me to thinking of how folks are trapped in old patterns and stories and don't necessarily reflect that in all their actions. It was a bit of an odd thing to think about while reading a romance novel, if I'm totally honest!
The two leads really grow as characters throughout and I was happy to see the amount of character development that we got with Pina. We knew she was a spitfire in the beginning, but as time goes on we get to see that more and more from her.
The steam level is a solid 4 our of 5, and the CLIFFHANGER. I'll definitely be looking for the second installment!
